What is Weeping Willa?
Weeping Willa is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting parents and families who have experienced the loss of a child at any stage or age of life.
We were founded by Cassie and Trevor Fjosne in honor of their daughter, Willa, with the goal of helping other families navigate life after unimaginable loss.
Frequently asked questions
We know grief looks different for every family, and asking for help can feel overwhelming. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about Weeping Willa, our mission, and how we support families experiencing the loss of a child.
Who does Weeping Willa help?
We support parents and families who have experienced the death of a child at any stage or age of life.
There is no "right" type of loss or grief required to deserve support. Our goal is to meet families where they are.
What can Weeping Willa help with?
Our financial assistance is designed around what a family actually needs following the loss of a child. Support may help with:
- Funeral and memorial expenses
- Medical bills
- Therapy and grief resources
- Household expenses
- Rent or mortgage payments
- Other financial needs that help keep life as normal as possible during an incredibly difficult time
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Weeping Willa is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible as permitted by law. Donors should consult their tax professional regarding their individual circumstances.
Are there restrictions on how assistance can be used?
We believe every family's circumstances are different. Rather than limiting support to one specific type of expense, Weeping Willa works to meet families where they are in their grief and provide assistance based on their individual needs.
How do I request assistance?
Families seeking support can complete an assistance request through our website. We encourage you to share as much information as you are comfortable providing so we can better understand your circumstances and needs.
